
Volkshaus Weimar
The charming Volkshaus Weimar is the main performance and rehearsal venue for the Lyric Opera Studio Weimar. Built in 1906 as the workers theater, the Volkshaus was the historical crucible for politics during the Weimar Republic of the 1920’s. A ten minute walk from the main studio, the Volkshaus is centrally located with a stage most suitable to the performing of a Mozart Opera.

Kochberg Palace und Historic Private Theatre (Foundation of Weimar Classics)
Once country estate of Goethe´s love Charlotte von Stein the ensemble of Kochberg Palace, Park and Theatre is still one of the most enchanting places in Thuringia. The palace was built in 1600 and is still surrounded by a castle-moat. Where the famous German poet Goethe was a frequent visitor you find today a museum and a restaurant. The palace is surrounded by a beautiful romantic park with numerous park architectures and many hidden garden seats. A special treasure is the unique „Liebhabertheater“, a classical private theatre built in 1800 by Charlotte von Stein´s eldest son Carl. The diligently restored theatre with its 75 seats belongs to the European Route Historic Theatres. Every Saturday there is a performance with renowned artists. Works of art from the classical and romantic period find their authentic scene and an ideal place for chamber music of the late 18th and early 19th century. The programme comprises theatre and opera performances, concerts and readings with well known artists. Visitors come from far and wide.
